At Superstars Child Development and Research Centre, we believe that every child has the potential to lead a fulfilling, independent life, no matter their neurodevelopmental challenges. Occupational Therapy (OT) plays a crucial role in helping children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and cerebral palsy improve their ability to function independently in daily life.
Research Insight:
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), “Occupational therapy practitioners enable children to participate fully in school and social activities, improve functional skills, and adapt to their environments, promoting independence and reducing the impact of functional impairments.” Research also shows that OT can improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, and essential activities of daily living (ADLs), such as eating, dressing, and grooming (Bundy, 2011).
How Superstars Helps:
At Superstars, our team of skilled OT therapists assesses each child’s sensory processing, motor skills, and daily functioning. We create personalized treatment plans that focus on fine motor skill development, including grasping, writing, and self-care tasks like buttoning shirts or tying shoes. With sensory integration therapy, we also help children overcome sensory challenges, making everyday activities more manageable and less overwhelming.
We work closely with parents to integrate these strategies at home, reinforcing the child’s progress in real-life settings. This collaborative approach ensures that children can carry out everyday tasks independently and confidently.
